Black Vinyl & Leather Dye
Use our anti-UV Black dye to restore leather or vinyl furniture, rubber, auto interiors, plastics, and even shoes, jackets, or purses.
For you color buffs, ours is a Lamp Black, which has a natural and warmer feel than the cooler blue Jet Black. We have found this Black to be a perfect match for nearly all black leathers and vinyls in over 25 years as professional restoration artists.
Black corrects stains, fading, discoloration, and scuffs with added UV protection. Designed for use on vinyl as well as pigmented and bycast leathers. Applies easily with a sponge, brush, or spray gun. It bonds to leather and vinyl, acting like a stain, not a coating. It will not rub off on clothing once dried. Do not get wet until fully cured. Stir stick and gloves come with each bottle. Sponge not included.

I am so impressed with the dye and how easy it is to apply.
Versatile "must have"...
Posted by Taos historical rehab addict on 26th Dec 2016
I initialy bought filler, black color, and this sealer to try to salvage leather seats in Spanish antique chairs for a Taos rehab project. If successful, I'd save about $700 for a custom leather reupholstering job. not a bad gamble for roughly $60. after refinishing the wood to clean and age appropreate condition, I worked on the leather, and the finished product is MUCH better than new leather. It retains some aged character, but appears all new. the clear sealer was the finishing key.
Afterward I used the clear on a very high quality but neglected leather couch, cushions, and pillows, all really old, dry, dirty, and well used. After a quick cleaning of the surface (409), six coats of clear with an hour dry time between coats, and you'd swear these pieces were just delivered from the King Ranch saddlery and leather works. Maybe saved $5,000 replacement of those beauties.
And then there were the barn boots, ugly but in good condition... like new now with mahogany color and two clear coats.
Keep a quart of clear handy. I completed all the above ob less that 2 quarts, and saved a bundle.

I love your product! I ordered, for the 2nd time, black yesterday. It is amazing! With my first order of black I refurbished a 40 year old black leather wing back. I could have sold 10 of them. Customers fought over it!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified about dying my leather love seat. I watched the videos, gloved up, and got to it. It really is as easy as the videos imply. I chose Ebony so my coverage was noticeable immediately - by the second go around, the color was lush and I was inspired. After applying the Clear Prep & Finish the luster was evident. The next day, I napped on it - even drooled a bit, and the dye held up! I'm sold on this product and have told everyone - Their initial reaction is always, "You did what?! You dyed your leather love seat?!!" - Yes I did....I can't wait to do it again. This is easily the best product I've come across - ever!
scared in the beginning but very happy

It was really scarey experience, knowing so little about dying leather, in ordering the dye over the inter-net because there were so many negative opinions regarding a water base dye adhering to leather and/or vinyl. But decided to order your product anyways based on the positive testimonials on your web site and very, very glad that we did. Following the directions that came with the product and on your web site, the product worked out very well and the results were beyond our expectation.
Rub 'n restore worked like magic!

The rubnrestore was very easy to use. It took four coats to change a purple chair to black. The first
Coat looks very streaky but it seems to prep the leather for the other coats. It is very fast and we only
Used a half a 8oz bottle. The finshed product looked very professional.
Great product and customer service

I sent a sample of my sofa to Rub 'n Restore. They analyzed it for free and recommended a 2:1 ratio of Wine and Black rather than paying the extra fee for a custom color. Started the restoration of our sofa on the weekend. I can't believe how it came out. It looks brand new! Glad I found Rub 'n Restore. Great product.

I had two old hunter green leather chairs and 1 old brown sofa. I dyed them black and it was amazing! I have brand new furniture for the cost of 1 bottle of dye. Excellent, excellent product!

Thank you for your excellent product. I had called a leather place to find out how much it would cost to dye a recliner chair from brown to black and I was quoted over $700.!! I was given this chair by my sister who was getting rid of it, so the cost of your product was worth the chance that it didn't work - but it did - beautifully!! Thank you for my new black leather recliner chair. :)

We are beyond satisfied with Rub 'n Restore products. We changed our brown 12 foot couch to black and it looks fantastic.
Fantastic product, easy to use.

Great product that restored our heavily sun damaged leather cushions to a nice, even black color.
Easy to use. We put 2 thin (thinned with water) coats on the most damaged areas and had a even color in the end. Use the sealer to add a sheen.

I recently refurbished a 2007 MX-5 Miata with scuffed and scratched seats. I looked a several products but went with Rub'nRestore because it was Water based and the application video demonstrated the ease of application. I did necessary prep with simple green and alcohol and the process was very easy. I treated the worst panels and seams let dry. I two coated the entire seats, drying between coats. I let the dye cure as directed, and put on the clear coat. Results were Awesome !!
Several club member will be getting their black back in my garage !!
Great and affordable

Used this on my ancient green leather couch and it now looks like a new black couch! Although it does require quite a bit of time to apply (full size couch with many wrinkles) it is great for those who want an affordable product.
i love it! it also works great on shoes!
