I already used Rub ‘n Restore®. Can I recolor it again with a different hue?

Absolutely! You can recolor your leather or vinyl many again and again with Rub ‘n Restore®.

You don’t necessarily have to strip the previous color. However, less is ultimately more, because our products are a finish (paint), not a dye. The type, quality, and condition of the material as well as the current and desired colors are all factors that can affect the durability of a color change.  Stripping the previous Rub ‘n Restore® color is recommended if you are restoring to original or changing to a lighter shade. Use denatured or rubbing alcohol, even paint thinner.

  1. I used a leather repair kit from another manufacturer ( Furniture Clinic) to fill and color all the cat scratches and cracks on my Ekornes recliner. I did use alcohol to degrease the entire chair first. None of the repairs are peeling off at this time. I now want to color the entire chair and ottoman with RnR navy color. Will rub n restore color cover the repairs without peeling off? Most of the repairs are on the well used center seat area. Should I use the clear coat on the final coat?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
