A new life to my Pottery Barn Recliner!
The detailed instructions found online were perfect. I used a soft brush to apply the paint and sealer. Because I felt like I could see brush marks I went over the paint using a stippling process to give it more of a mottled look and not so smooth. I am extremely happy with the results and have enough product left over to do a second recliner in my Florida home.

Amazing turnaround!
I am blown away by my results on a severely cracked, with crazing, leather chair. A few tips: As advised, I applied very thin coats of leather filler using my own palette knife and RNR's needle tool. The filler turned clear, but even with lots of time under an incandescent bulb it stayed a bit tacky. This made me nervous, but I finally had to just keep going. I lightly sanded using 500 and repeated a few times - very thin coat of leather filler, let dry, lightly sand. The sanding made the texture of the damaged surface feel very close to the rest of the chair. I wasn't going for perfect, so when I was satisfied with the surface I applied the...More

It was overall so easy and took a chair someone gave me for free into a coveted item. Truly turned trash into treasure!

Renewed a chair I was sure was done!
I am now an evangelist for this product and for Rub n Restore. I got a leather chair for free after the previous owner failed to renew it. It was a beautiful shape but three sections of the leather were severely cracked. I used Rub n Restore's leather filler, then lightly sanded and applied the leather color in chocolate and the clear coat. Chocolate happened to be an absolutely perfect match. I don't know if I truly needed the clear coat, but it applied easily and will likely give a little extra protection.

Vintage restoration
I was led to this brand via a YouTube clip about restoring vintage Coach.
As a collector I instantly bought the black vinyl + leather finish with the clear prep + finish. Goodby saddle soap and leather CPR.
Only using Rub’n Restore from now on.

Terrible product
Did my research, followed full videos and instructions and this looks worse then when I started off. Would never have purchased this and now can't remove and go back to how it was. $70 or so wasted for a product that is not in the least bit dyable and now I am left with a white patch. I wanted to test the colorability before I finished sanding smooth. For starters, the leather/vinyl repair cream has a terrible rubbery texture that comes right off when you sand 2-3 days after drying. Secondly, it will take no color. Couldn't even fill a small cut correctly because it doesn't take color.

I'm sorry this didn't turn out the way you hoped. I searched for your order and found the subpatch kit and the leather/vinyl fix kit, but no order for any of our colors. If you did purchase our color and it isn't adhering, please email us for a full refund. If the color came from somewhere else, that manufacturer will know their product better than we do, since ours is formulated to bond to our filler specifically.

The filler also goes on in thin coats with each one dried fully before the next. A thick application stays soft in the middle and will roll off under sandpaper days later, exactly as you describe. Smooth it as much as you can, do the final smoothing with rubbing alcohol, then apply a texturing coat.

We would have loved the opportunity to troubleshoot this with you via our phone support line.

Not as we remembered the production be.
I’m not sure we still were able to get the coverage and sheen. It took a lot of reapplying of the product to get the same results as before. The product was extremely watery, we stirred it well. Has something changed in the product?

In 2021 you ordered a 16 oz. Custom Color and 4 oz. Clear Prep+Finish and combined the two. This slightly diluted the color and made it a bit more lustrous. Indeed, the war in Ukraine forced us to switch pigment suppliers in 2022, so the the specific gravities and weights of each pigment changed a little bit in the new formula. Still, we tested the new color against the original sample and obtained an excellent match. Viscosity and coverage are also comparable. In fact, because you didn't add in 4 oz. If not, it could be some residue from sunscreen, body oil, conditioners or protectors that are inhibiting the finish and need to be treated with a more aggressive solvent. If the only issue is a duller finish, simply buff it with a dry rag to polish.

Our Burgundy Couch Got Red Wined!
Our 30+ yr old couch was showing hairline cracks in the color, some fading from sun damage. We applied 2 coats of Wine color and, eureka, it's a new couch! What a great program from Rub'n Restore. My neighbor put me on to this company who recommended highly and he was spot on.

I had a gray boat cushion I wanted to refurbish and I thought I’d be able to match it mixing black and white…nope! I finally sent a small cushion in and had them color match…wow! What a difference. The color match is so good that I didn’t even have to do the whole cushion and you couldn’t tell the difference between the original and where I had colored. Totally worth it!!!

Did the job
We have a Softub hot tub with a vinyl cover. The RubnRestore worked perfectly and restored the top. The color match product matched our original color. We are very happy with the product and would recommend it to others.

Quality product, but color-matching was a failure. Color on webpage was not the color needed. Should have known, but did not have sample to send.

Repeat customer!
I bought a new to us pontoon boat that has sun damaged seats. I bought rub and restore marine vinyl white in 2025 and restored my seats to almost new- good enough I was not embarrassed to have people go for rides and sit upon a seat. I reordered a small amount this year to touch up some areas. I’m saving for new furniture in a couple of years but I appreciate this product. Customer service is wonderful- I’ve had return email answers in 2-4 hours despite time zone differences between us. Thanks!

Amazing product
Such an easy and affordable solution to changing the color scheme of my home. Only took 1 4oz bottle of color to change all 6 barstools. Several coats but dries quickly and goes on with ease. A little goes a long way. Added cross linker and satin sealer since it was such a dramatic change. I’m so beyond impressed with the finished results. Will definitely recommend and use again if needed.

Awesome product!
I helped restore the cushions on my dad's pontoon boat. we couldn't be happier with the results! The seats were sun bleached and stained from mold and in one coat, they look brand new. We followed the directions carefully and ensured one heck of a cleaning with the seats before we started painting. All the effort we put into prepping the cushions made the result spectacular. Highly recommend this over trying anything else to restore your vinyl!

Delayed having to do new seats
My sea ray sundancer had stained and a little mildew on the seats. After using rub’s restore they look almost brand new. It delayed me having to redo all the seats for a while now. Thank you.
