Clear Prep+Finish Leather Conditioner
Clear Prep+Finish™ is a water-based leather conditioner and clear sealer. Excellent for priming and protecting marine vinyl and synthetics too!
Clear Prep+Finish™ is the base for all Rub 'n Restore® Colors and serves many functions:
- Use it as a primer for dry, stiff, or sun-rotted surfaces.
- Dilute Rub 'n Restore® Colors with Clear Prep+Finish™ to make a transparent glaze for multi-toned surfaces, aniline leather, or to create a satin finish.
- Use it between layers of color to seal your work (recommended for color changes from dark to light).
- A final topcoat of Clear Prep+Finish™ improves durability and deepens color by adding shine (this is most noticeable when applied over dark or bold colors). It cannot replicate the appearance of patent leather or high-shine vinyl. Do not use if you desire a matte finish.
Application is easy with a sponge or spray gun (not included).
A little goes a long way: 8 oz. is usually enough for a sofa when used just as a topcoat; buy 16 oz. if you're using it both as a primer and topcoat.

I’m a little disappointed in the color match because the picture appeared to be a perfect match. I’m still working on it and will put a clear coating over it when I’m done. The product is very easy to use.
Leather car seat refinish.

I mixed the clear prep and finish conditioner 1:1 with dye for a satin finish. Worked great.

I will never be without a bottle of this in my house. I used it to prep my couches for colour, seal the colour and to condition a different set and it is amazing. Brings life back to old leather!!

My steering wheel looks like new!
Posted by John Johnson on 19th Feb 2018
I didn't buy R&R for my steering wheel, but it worked great. Most guides to refurbishing a steering wheel include removing the wheel (a lot more involved than it sounds), sanding the old finish off, smoothing it, priming it, masking it, spray painting it again and again, spraying several coats of clear varnish, and then reassembling it. Whew! I put a few coats of R&R dye on with a sponge (without removing or masking it), waited a couple of days and applied a couple coats of clear. What a difference it made and without all of the hassle! Thanks for a great product t that's easy to use. I can't wait to try it on my furniture now.
Great way to finish

After having great success with the Cognac and Peppercorn dyes I tried the clear prep. I really liked how it finished off the couches and added a subtle shine.

Loved all you products. With wine color found I had to use the sealer or it would rub off color. Also on furniture with parts not leather after several coats of color had to use sealer to get a smooth not streaky look. My furniture looks beautiful!

After allowing my two Rhodesian Ridgebacks took over my couch, love seat and recliner. their nails had scratched the leather up to the point I thought I would have to replace them. I looked hi and lo for a product that restored the shine/sheen they had when they were new. After a couple of coats of Clear Prep+Finish Leather Conditioner, it has the sheen, the color came back (dark chocolate) without dye. Best $ I ever spent!

I like the product, but I do still stress when it's time to apply. I don't always get the finish I need. Sometimes it has streaks, sometimes it has dots, and I have to re-dye and re-apply. I've done everything the same way they say, but not sure why it turns out the way it does at times. However, it is a nice product all in all.
Made used sofa look new!

We were in need of a new sofa and loveseat. We purchased an Italian leather sofa and love seat that was dryer out and faded due to sitting in storage for 250$. I used to coats of Rub n Restore conditioner, and was amazed at how well it conditioned and protected the leather and our beautiful leather set looks brand new!
Wow just wow

Versatile "must have"...
Posted by Taos historical rehab addict on 23rd Dec 2016
I initialy bought filler, black color, and this sealer to try to salvage leather seats in Spanish antique chairs for a Taos rehab project. If successful, I'd save about $700 for a custom leather reupholstering job. not a bad gamble for roughly $60. after refinishing the wood to clean and age appropreate condition, I worked on the leather, and the finished product is MUCH better than new leather. It retains some aged character, but appears all new. the clear sealer was the finishing key.
Afterward I used the clear on a very high quality but neglected leather couch, cushions, and pillows, all really old, dry, dirty, and well used. After a quick cleaning of the surface (409), six coats of clear with an hour dry time between coats, and you'd swear these pieces were just delivered from the King Ranch saddlery and leather works. Maybe saved $5,000 replacement of those beauties.
And then there were the barn boots, ugly but in good condition... like new now with mahogany color and two clear coats.
Keep a quart of clear handy. I completed all the above ob less that 2 quarts, and saved a bundle.

This did exactly what we needed it to do and the staff was incredibly helpful! I have already recommended it to several people!

This is the perfect stuff to put on after I have used the dye product. Returns the furniture to it's original glossy look.

I used this before the color and after to protect it. My vinyl top on my 90 Coupe was in really bad shape, this is the second time I am using RnR with great results it lasted over two years in the Fl. sun

Used this to seal a peeled off bonded leather repair, and then to top seal the finished repair. It sealed the underneath part well. The top coat turned out glossy, as I hoped.

This product adds the finishing touch to the project. The small sections I dyed are now as shiny as the original couch and everything is blended. Loved this product.
